At KRS Dance, the safety, welfare, and wellbeing of children and young people are paramount. We are committed to creating a culture of openness, transparency, and accountability in which all children and young people feel safe, respected, and valued. Through the implementation of this Child Safe Policy, we aim to provide a supportive environment where children and young people can thrive and reach their full potential.
Here are some strategies that KRS Dance can regularly practice to ensure child safety in the dance studio for children aged 6 months to 18 years old:
Supervision: Ensure that there is adequate supervision of children at all times, especially during dance classes, rehearsals, and breaks. Staff should be actively engaged in monitoring and guiding children to prevent accidents and address any concerns promptly.
Safe Environment: Regularly assess and maintain the dance studio environment to ensure it is safe for children of all ages. This includes checking for hazards such as slippery floors, loose equipment, or obstacles in walkways, and promptly addressing any issues.
Safe Dance Practices: Implement age-appropriate dance techniques and exercises to prevent injuries. Provide guidance on proper warm-up and stretching routines, and encourage dancers to listen to their bodies and take breaks when needed.
First Aid Preparedness: Ensure that staff members are trained in first aid and CPR, and that there are adequate first aid supplies readily available in the studio. Staff should be prepared to respond quickly and effectively to any injuries or medical emergencies that may occur.
Emergency Procedures: Establish clear emergency procedures and communicate them to staff, students, and parents/guardians.
Safe Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures: Implement procedures to ensure the safe drop-off and pick-up of children, including verifying the identity of individuals picking up children and maintaining a secure check-in/check-out system.
Communication with Parents/Guardians: Maintain open and transparent communication with parents/guardians regarding their children's participation in dance classes and any safety concerns or incidents that may arise. Encourage parents/guardians to share any relevant medical information or special needs their children may have.
Training and Education: Provide ongoing training and education to staff members on child safety best practices, including recognising signs of abuse or neglect, appropriate behaviour around children, and how to respond to disclosures of abuse or concerns raised by children.
Establish Boundaries: Ensure that staff members understand and adhere to appropriate boundaries when interacting with children, including maintaining professional relationships and avoiding situations that could be perceived as inappropriate.
Feedback Mechanisms: Establish channels for children, parents/guardians, and staff members to provide feedback on safety concerns or suggestions for improvement. Encourage open communication and take all concerns seriously, addressing them promptly and effectively.
By regularly practicing these strategies, KRS Dance can create a safe and supportive environment where staff and children of all ages can enjoy the benefits of dance while minimising the risk of accidents or harm.

In order to achieve comfort, adhere to safe dance practices, and achieve uniformity and to create group cohesion in a professional environment, we think it is important for our dancers to wear uniforms to class. The uniforms for all classes have been custom made for KRS Dance students and are significantly cheaper than similar items purchased at dance wear shops. Our ballet students wear leotards approved by the RAD for class and exams. Uniforms may be purchased via our online store.

We feel it is important for students to perform to age appropriate music in age appropriate costumes.
-
Our end of year concert is optional. While we encourage all students to be part of our concerts we understand that not everyone is ready to be up on stage and that is absolutely fine.

Yes, if there is the same class on another day that has space you can book in a make up class via your customer portal or by emailing us hello@krsdance.com.au

We do have some of our Preschool classes where parents/carers can stay in class, these include our babyballet® Tots, Tinies and Movers Transition classes. All other classes are drop off classes but we do encourage parents/carers to stay and watch trial classes so they can meet our teachers and see our classes in action. Whilst drop off classes may be hard for some it allows your child to gain confidence and fully immerse themselves into our classes. Other children in class can also feel uncomfortable having other grown ups in class watching and we want our classes to be a great experience for all.
-
We do offer casual packages that can be used within 12 months and we also offer payment plans to our dance families. Our fees are non-refundable if you have a change of mind or are unable to attend classes each week. As we limit class numbers we are unable to provide drop in classes.
